Topic: Productionpoint's new site

This being the inaugaral post to P.O.V., a discussion board - I'd like to ask for comments/criticism on the site. We've undergone a facelift of sorts here at Productionpoint - and incorporated a host of new features, many of which were suggested by our members. You'll also notice we've made a shift to more of an "open-source" webmodel that promotes more traffic and thus increased visibility for the company's listed on our site. Have a look around...and in the next several weeks you'll see more changes, so come on back... Best,

Hey Jason, just logged in to check out the new site. It's looking good! It would be nice to get a true and active information interchange going. I see things have been moving in that direction on Q-point lately with less of the needless self promotion going on. Looking forward to the new changes. Keep up the good work guys!

Jason,

I like the new Productionpoint site very much, terrific interface and toolsets. I understand POV, QPoint and World Report. But under the "Networking Tools" section of each Listing page, not sure what "Submit a Testimonial" means?

Thanks in advance,

Mitchell Sack President, PTS, Inc.

In response to testimonials...

We’ve found that references can be one of the single most important factors in securing new business… So if you've personally worked with a company or individual who is Listed on Productionpoint, and you want to give them an endorsement or recommendation -- you can "submit a testimonial" directly off their Listing page. And if they choose to publish it, that "testimonial" will then appear on their Listing page.

How about "industry focus"? Please explain, as I see this term all over the site...

Many companies and individuals in the Industry work in various capacities within the Business. For example a Company may specialize in Commercial Production and Music Videos. Or an Editor may work primarily on Feature Films and Documentaries. So "Industry Focus" is simply a way for a Company or Individual to prioritize the type of work they do.

Hello Jason Perhaps wer all a little shy to open up and use the site at its full potential. For one I am not sure how to interest people in my work and even less sure how to offer my services to others. The fact that we are still quite a small lot doesn help to launch things either. Lets be patient and dive in.

Andre, Thanks for your post; there are a number of ways to promote yourself through the site: 1. Create a thorough storefront (it's your presence on the site) which you've done a terrific job of already. (great photos) 2. Utilize the features of your Preferred Account; this allows promotion via the forums as well as the ability to host 10 videos of your work online. 3. The forums; World Update is designed as a place to let others know what you've been up to - post a video or photos there of recent jobs, etc. It also doesn't hurt to participate in QPoint postings - this not only builds the community here, but it serves as an invaluable resource for our industry as well. 4. Spread the Word: the more people that visit Productionpoint, the more you're promoted as well. Use the Friendly URL Feature in your email salutations, etc.

Best,

Jason

Hi Jason, Aren Blake here. I'm a "member" and received an email that was asking for an Animation Director in Hawaii. I disguarded that email and now wonder where I could go back in to your site and find the listing. Does this possibility exist in your new format? this email referred to was sent within the last week. thanks you - kauaiaren@yahoo.com
